New vinyl ink and robotized inkjet printing process for the fine decoration of instrument panels made by PVC slush molding
The consumers’ choice has steadily increased since the Ford T: “Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black” (Henry Ford – 1922).
Thanks to online configurators on automotive websites, a set of technical and aesthetical options are proposed today to let consumers imagine their new car, however rather limited options are proposed for instrument panels.
As the automotive industry is shifting from Mass Production to Mass Customization, production tools must gain in flexibility and responsiveness.
NAKAN is ready for that ! To surf along this trend, the company has developed specialty Vinyl Inks and Robotized Digital Printer offering fine decoration on curved surfaces for instrument panels, door panels or other interior parts made with PVC slush molding.
This new technology is perfect to widen consumers’ choices, to make any limited editions, co-branding initiatives, facelifts and personalisation as well.
NAKAN has developped in France a new range of inks – NAKAN PrintSol – together with a 6 axis robotized digital printer able to print on curved surfaces of molds or parts.
The objectives are to create cockpits as first decoration item and harmonize the brand identity between exterior and interior.
A new demonstrator was invested in China and unveiled to Asian NAKAN customers during the 10 years ceremony of Changshu Resichina.
Customization needs to be flexible, our solution has been developed to use the technology at the service of the design.
This technology can be fully integrated in the production process of the cockpit.
